Spanish Book Review – Sabores de América

December 4, 2014 By Kelly Leave a Comment

Another Thursday, another magnificent book Sabores de América.
Sabores de América
Long before quinoa was considered a ‘super food,’ pumpkins were carved or chocolate was known as being ‘good for you’ our ancestors (and I mean…long-long-long ago) used these ingredients in their everyday lives. I remember growing up with all of these, but never really took the time to find out more about them.
Did you know that vanilla was used by the Aztecs to flavor chocolate or that Natives used pumpkins filled with ash and ground peppers to fight Christopher Columbus?
Would you believe that tomatoes were brought to Italy in the 1500’s?This book is FILLED with amazing facts, interesting bits of information, and tons of recipes. From maíz, porotos to chirimoyas, you and your family will fall in love with this book. I honestly think that from all the books I have reviewed in this site, this one is one of my favorites. The illustrations are beautiful and just add to the overall awesomeness of the book.
